Students of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Food Technology study the experience of Lithuanian cheese makers
On 12 September 2024, students of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Food Technology of Poltava State Agrarian University visited the Kaunas Collegium laboratory in Lithuania.
During the trip, they conducted physicochemical and organic studies of Ukrainian and Lithuanian cheeses, compared product quality, exchanged new knowledge and methods, and got acquainted with modern equipment. The students gained invaluable experience, acquired theoretical and practical skills that will help them in their future research!
The students also visited a goat mini-farm with its own craft cheese dairy, located near Kaunas in the small town of Lekฤฤiai. The Siaudine ozka farm was founded in 1994. Today, the farm has 17 dairy goats of Anglo-Nubian, Alpine and Mancha breeds, 20 goats, 2 breeding goats and 10 sheep. The farm not only raises and breeds goats and sheep, but also produces craft cheeses (brynza, Adygea, dry cheese, fresh soft cheese, several types of hard cheese), yoghurt made from sheep's milk, and goat meat.
The farm also offers green tourism, so everyone can not only see the animals but also buy craft products, enjoy nature, learn about the history of the farm and visit photo zones. During this excursion, the students improved their knowledge of goat breeding and husbandry, cheese production technology, and learned about the unique technologies of traditional Lithuanian cheeses. We are very grateful to the owners of the farm for their warm welcome, new knowledge and interesting excursion. Such trips contribute to the development of professional competences and deepen knowledge in the field of food technology.
Students of PSAU in Kauno Kolegija: the start of the academic year and research
Higher education students of Poltava State Agrarian University, who are participating in the international academic mobility programme within the UniClaD project ยซEnhancing capacity of universities to initiate and to participate in clusters development on innovation and sustainability principlesยป are actively integrating into the academic environment of Kauno Kolegija (Lithuania).
Our students joined the celebration of the start of the new academic year on 2 September 2024. The festival, organised by Kauno kolegija, was a bright start to their stay in Lithuania. Concerts, intellectual games and delicious food created a friendly atmosphere and made students feel like full members of the student community.
On 5 September, students organised a tasting of craft cheeses made from goat's milk produced by the UniClaD project partners, Dobrokraft (Ukraine). The event helped to deepen students' knowledge and practical skills. This event became a platform for sharing experiences and conducting research. Yulia Karban, a PhD student at the Faculty of Animal Production and Food Technologies of the PSAU, gave a thorough presentation about the specific features of Ukrainian production of hard and soft goat cheeses for students of the Food Technology speciality and teachers of Kauno kolegia. The students took part in a questionnaire to evaluate the organoleptic characteristics of the cheeses after the tasting.
The international project UniClaD, which includes academic mobility, aims to increase the capacity of universities to initiate clusters and participate in their development on the principles of innovation and sustainability. The participation of PSAU students in this project is an important contribution to the development of international cooperation in the field of education and science.
Poltava State Agrarian University students visit Lithuania's leading dairy laboratory
On 9 September, as part of the UniClaD project ยซEnhancing capacity of universities to initiate and to participate in clusters development on innovation and sustainability principlesยป, students from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Food Technology at Poltava State Agrarian University visited Pieno tัrimai, the only independent laboratory in Lithuania (Kaunas) that operates as a unified system for assessing the composition and quality of milk and is authorised to perform these functions.
It is considered to be one of the most accurate in Europe. All producers are required by law to send milk samples to this laboratory. In this way, the government not only controls the quality and quantity of milk, but also checks for health problems and can react to them in good time.
ย
The laboratory currently serves 24,000 dairy farms in the country and tests 4.5 million milk samples a year. Testing is continuous, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with laboratory staff working in shifts. The accuracy of the methods used by the laboratory is 95%.
ย
The laboratory was established by the Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture.

Student mobility of students from Comrat State University to the University of Lithuania within the UniClad project
On August 27, 2024, a meeting was held at Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (Kaunas, Lithuania) with participants of the student academic mobility program within the framework of the international UniClaD project, aimed at "Enhancing the ability of universities to initiate and participate in the development of clusters based on innovation and continuity."
The selection of mobility participants was conducted according to all the rules of the CSU Regulation on the mobility of students and faculty. Six students from Comrat State University from the Faculties of Agrarian Technology and Economics traveled to Lithuania:
- Alexander KOLISH โ student of group AIM-22, Faculty of Agrarian Technology;
- Valentin LEBEDEV โ student of group AIM-22, Faculty of Agrarian Technology;
- Inessa VLAH โ student of group AIM-22, Faculty of Agrarian Technology;
- Tatiana RADOVA โ student of group AA-23, Faculty of Agrarian Technology;
- Irina CHESKOVA โ student of group EF-22, Faculty of Economics;
- Viktoria GERMEK-CHOLAK โ student of group ETU-23, Faculty of Economics.
The students will be studying and deepening their knowledge in their respective fields from August 26 to September 22. They will become acquainted with the experience of a European university by attending lectures and practical classes with Lithuanian instructors, improving their English language skills, and gaining unique insights into the history and culture of Lithuania. This is an excellent opportunity to make new acquaintances and expand professional contacts.
The administration of Comrat State University highly values the opportunity for students to participate in academic mobility in Lithuania. We express our sincere gratitude to the project coordinator Vytautฤ GIEDRAITIENฤ and Dean Giedrius GGECEVICIUS for the warm reception and care of our students.
